Music Production. Gaming. Random Shit.

Context Makes Original

Bringing in new elements to your music can really lift it. Fuse unthinkable out-of-place-bits with your track. Mix and mend, make ‘em play along. Context makes original.

In pursuit of new, original music, you must experiment and make many mistakes. Remember Ken Robinson’s talk:

“Now, I don’t mean to say that being wrong is the same thing as being creative. What we do know is, if you’re not prepared to be wrong, you’ll never come up with anything original.”

Tutorials for specific genres, telling you how to copy a sound and style of music, can only be true assets if you develop ‘em, rework ‘em.

Internet music is a big playground. Remix shit, rearrange, sample, abuse, recode, tweak, re-edit, filter shit out.

Struggle some, it should be part of your scheme, your production plan.

P. S. Try to find time to see the H∆SHTAG$ series of mini-documentaries about digital culture.
