      In an earlier post I wrote about crowdfunding your studio album, and the dangers of expecting your fans to pay for both the production (e.g. studio time, mastering) and the result (e.g. vinyl, digital audio files).

      Now I’d like to bring a new perspective to this topic.

      If you’re not signed to a record label or if you’re in some other way denied accessing the orthodox music industry, then you might as well try alternative methods for your Internet music.

      Recently I saw this talk on TED, which argues that you shouldn’t make people pay for music, but let them. It’s like reclaiming the relationship between artist and fan. I know shit about Amanda Palmer, but I think her approach to her fans is totally sympathetic.
